Andrea Rubini holds an MSc in Water Resources Engineering and has over 40 years of international experience in the water and related sectors, with a particular focus on the impacts of climate change on urban and industrial ecosystems.
For the past two decades, he has been actively engaged in the European research and innovation policy landscape in Brussels, gaining extensive expertise in EU strategies and funding programmes. He served as an R&I expert for the Lombardy Region’s Delegation to the EU, where he contributed to the development of the Vanguard Initiative. He also worked as a policy adviser at the European Commission’s Directorate-General for Regional and Urban Policy, supporting the design of Smart Specialisation Strategies.
Andrea has undertaken assignments in Africa and South Asia with organisations such as UNDP, UNFPA, ILO, the African Development Bank, and several academic institutions.
He currently serves as Director of Operations at Water Europe, the European water platform based in Brussels. In this role, he leads the Implementation and Collaboration Programmes and represents Water Europe in the Water4All and Processes4Planet Partnerships.
