Biography:

Cristina Cornaro is full professor of Environmental Applied Physics at the Department of Enterprise Engineering of the University of Rome Tor Vergata, Italy. Her research activity concerns the study of environmental measurements and solar energy conversion, comfort and indoor air quality, energy efficiency in buildings, conservation of historical buildings. Since 2008 she coordinates the research activities of the outdoor ESTER lab which consists in a solar and weather monitoring unit and of a PV modules monitoring unit to test new emerging PV technologies in the real word.

Recently her interests are focused on two main research fields:

energy performance evaluation of new and existing buildings for sustainable development. Retrofit solutions evaluation of standard and historical buildings using on-site measurements and dynamic simulation. Environmental monitoring and dynamic simulation applied to the conservation of Cultural Heritage;

weather and solar radiation measurements at ground for performance evaluation of photovoltaic systems and monitoring and test of solar conversion devices of various technologies. Solar radiation and PV power plant forecast from 1 day to 3 days ahead for smart grid stability using stochastic techniques.

She is part of the Centre for Hybrid and Organic Solar Energy (CHOSE , www.chose.uniroma2.it) and ESTER lab is one of the main laboratories of CHOSE;

She is presently coordinating the ESTER Lab research group in the following international and national projects:

Eu funded REGACE project on AgriPV developing and testing an innovative responsive PV tracking system built inside greenhouses to maximize crop growth and renewable energy production,

project Resilio funded by Italian Ministry of Enterprises and Made in Italy on management and spatialization of environmental data,

project BEACON on a methodology for the analysis and design of improvement interventions on the built heritage based on Building Performance Simulation and Heritage Building Information modeling, funded by the Ministry of University program PRIN2022.

Projects Res4Tech and RomeTech+ within the ecosystem of innovation Rome Technopole funded by PNRR

She is senior expert within the IEA PVPS Task16 on solar resources assessment for large scale application and member of the coordination board of the IEA Agrivoltaics Action Group. Member of the scientific committee of the  Excellence Center, District of Cultural Heritage of the Lazio Region (DTC Lazio) and of the board of the Italian branch of the International Building Performance Simulation Association (IBPSA)

Prof. Cornaro is author/co-author of more than130 scientific publications in international journals, conferences and book chapters. Her H index is 25, based on Scopus database.

Specialties: solar energy and PV power forecast, PV devices characterization and performance modelling, building integrated photovoltaic (BIPV). Energy efficiency in buildings, thermal comfort, air quality, environmental monitoring.
